Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.

A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before running away.

The purpose of the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, police said.

Details of the Attack

Authorities indicated that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a building near the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the site overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, according to reports.

"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a individual with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but collapsed across the street.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.

In a release, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and quick humor, adding that his memory "will endure".
